Decarbonisation and migration reform are among the priorities of the new German government

The three political forces, which are negotiating a government in Germany, reached an agreement on a governing coalition on Wednesday. These are the center-left Social Democrats SPD, the environmental Green Party and the Liberal Free Democrats FDP. Tackling the pandemic will be a top priority for the new government, Social Democrat leader Olaf Scholz, said to be Angela Merkel's successor. The agreement will bring to power the first three-party coalition government at the head of the federal republic since the 1950s, Deutsche Welle reports.                                                        At the heart of the governance program is "combining prosperity with climate protection," said Green Co-Chair Robert Habeck. The Free Democrats stressed that they would work to modernize the country. Scholz revealed that an anti-crisis team is being planned at the chancellery to coordinate health policies at the federal and local levels, and mentioned that compulsory vaccination is being considered for some vulnerable groups.
