The NATO secretary general called on Russia to ease tensions over Ukraine

NATO remains committed to dialogue with Russia, which is particularly valuable in times of tension, but will continue to support Ukraine. This was stated by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg in an interview published on Saturday for the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.  "We will continue to support Ukraine politically and practically so that the country can defend itself from aggression, "the secretary general said, without giving details.

"I call on Russia to reduce tensions. At the same time, we remain open to dialogue with Russia. Dialogue is more important when tensions are high," he said. Commenting on reports of an alleged gathering of Russian troops near the border, Stoltenberg said he was not ready to see this "just as a bluff".
