Which fruit is the most radioactive

Bananas pose a certain danger due to the radioactive element they contain, scientists from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Chang Xiaotiang and Liao Tzu said in an article for WeChat, quoted by RIA Novosti

As the researchers note, in addition to the usual harmless potassium, these fruits also contain its isotope - potassium-40, a source of ionizing radiation, which adversely affects health.                                                                                                    However, its amount in the fruit is considered small. "The radiation dose received from eating a banana is about 0.0778 microsieverts. This is negligible. By comparison, a chest CT scan is equivalent to 70,000 bananas," the article said.

Scientists periodically use the "banana equivalent" to measure the radioactivity of a source. For example, the maximum allowable impact of nuclear power plants is proportional to the consumption of 2,500 bananas per year, and the lethal dose will be about 35 million bananas.
