The Macedonian association Ilinden and its Golo Bardo branch strongly condemned in a written reaction "the latest attempt by the Bulgarian embassy in Tirana to show a non-existent Bulgarian minority in the Golo Bardo area," MakPress reports.
"In the days before the New Year holidays, the Bulgarian propagandists in the Republic of Albania, with a new attempt to search for Bulgarians in the villages in Golo Bardo, where - we repeat: there are no such. Namely, the consul of the Bulgarian embassy in Tirana distributed New Year's packages to the students from the schools "Elez Kochi" and "10 dead", according to the reaction of the association.
The statement added that Macedonians in Golo Bardo have reacted sharply to such activities.
"In the numerous reactions received from the association, the Macedonians from Golo Bardo condemned this vile and inexplicable action of the Bulgarian embassy in Tirana and assessed that it was another act of propaganda by the representatives of this embassy."
The reaction also states that the Macedonian association Ilinden-Tirana and the Golo Bardo branch, as representatives of the Macedonians in Albania, show solidarity with the numerous reactions of the Macedonian population in the region.
"At the same time, we consider it necessary to convey to the world community the message of the Macedonians from Golo Bardo - that they have always been Macedonians and will never be Bulgarians!" "We are citizens with dignity and we are proud to be Macedonians for centuries," the statement said.
