London is preparing a way to evacuate its military from Ukraine in the event of Russian aggression

The British military, along with the Polish, American and Canadian, play the role of instructors and advisers in Ukraine. And now, according to the Daily Express, following a statement by British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace that it was "extremely unlikely" that the British would fight the Russians on Ukrainian soil, authorities were preparing scenarios for their early withdrawal.

Tensions over Ukraine are rising, the newspaper said, satellite images show that there are hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles at Russia's military base in Crimea. In addition, Russia has passed a new law that allows dead soldiers to be buried in mass graves instead of being delivered to their homeland. As the author of the article notes, many saw this as a signal that Russia was making plans for military intervention.

At the same time, Moscow, on the other hand, announced that it was withdrawing 10,000 troops from the border. But experts believe this is only part of the armed forces stationed in the region.

British military leaders must conduct a full analysis of working conditions in Ukraine to ensure that their troops can be withdrawn safely if Moscow goes on the offensive, the author writes.

Most of the British military is located near the town of Yavorov and in case of danger they will go to the Polish border, which is not far from there. A smaller group of British officers is in the Ukrainian capital, who can also go to the border. The navy, which trains sailors in Odessa, is now on holiday in Britain.

The decision to evacuate will be made by the head of the joint operations department Charles Strickland. Its staff will be on high alert during the holidays to monitor the atmosphere, and it will receive status updates twice a day. As noted in the British Armed Forces, British soldiers should not be trapped in Ukraine.

The United Kingdom provided short-term assistance to Ukraine under the post-conflict international aid package of 2014. After that, according to the newspaper, "mini-states" emerged in eastern Ukraine: the DPR and the LPR. Since then, the United Kingdom has conducted medical, planning, logistics and infantry training with more than 21,000 Ukrainian servicemen. In 2019, the operation was extended to 2023 and expanded to include naval units to prepare the Ukrainian military to deal with threats in the Sea of Azov, writes the Daily Express.
