Sofia is trying to artificially "create" Bulgarians in Golo Bardo

The only party of Macedonians in Albania, the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration (IAEA), has reacted to "the recent behavior of the Bulgarian embassy in Tirana to artificially present Macedonians in the Golo Bardo region as Bulgarians," the Skopje newspaper said Sloboden pechat.

The party condemns the behavior of the Bulgarian embassy in Tirana, which on the eve of the New Year holidays distributed gifts for propaganda purposes to students from Elez Kochi High School in Ostreni and 10 Deceased High School in Trebishte, Golo Bardo district, presenting them as Bulgarian students. ", It is stated in the text distributed by the party.

MAEI adds that there is no Bulgarian minority in the Golo Bardo area, and for centuries only Macedonians have lived there, proud of their origins.

"Permanently inscribed in the memory of the inhabitants of Golo Bardo, the Bulgarian crimes during the occupation of the Golo Bardo region by Bulgaria during the First World War remain alive. Elez Kochi, now named after the school in Ostreni, was killed in 1916 by the Bulgarian army, which buried him alive by a river in the village of Varnitsa in Golo Bardo.

The residents of the Golo Bardo area, the party emphasizes, expect an official apology from Bulgaria for the crimes committed during the First World War.

"The behavior of the Bulgarian embassy in Tirana, which exploits poverty in the areas where the Macedonian community in Albania lives, presenting it as a Bulgarian community, is a primitive perversion and a historical distortion of the truth," the party said in a statement.
