The man who tried to infiltrate Windsor wanted revenge for Britain's colonial policy in India

The gunman, who broke into the territory of Windsor Castle on Saturday, where the Queen of the United Kingdom Elizabeth II was celebrating Christmas, wanted to take revenge on the ruling British dynasty for the colonial policy of London in India, writes The Sun.

According to the publication, the 19-year-old man from Southampton, who was carrying a crossbow with him, recorded a video on the social network Snapchat a few minutes before entering the territory of the monarch's residence. In it he "threatens to kill" Elizabeth II. He explained his motives for revenge for the Amritsar massacre - the shooting of a demonstration of civilians in northern India by the colonial troops of the British Empire in 1919.

"This is revenge for those who have been killed, humiliated or discriminated against because of their race. I am an Indian Sikh, Sit. "My name is Jaswant Singh Chill, my name is Darth Jones," the newspaper quoted the man as saying. The Sun points out that in his appeal, the criminal referred to the heroes of the Star Wars saga - the Sith, who are supporters of Darth Vader and opponents of the Jedi, defending the so-called Galactic Republic.

Earlier, Scotland Yard reported that the detainee may be suffering from mental disorders. He was placed in a specialized institution under the law on mental health and is under the supervision of doctors, police said. The man is suspected of entering the protected area, as well as illegal possession of a weapon.

Earlier, law enforcement officials said the suspect was on the castle grounds but was unable to enter any of the buildings in the complex. The royals were informed of the incident.

Faced with a coronavirus pandemic, Elizabeth II is celebrating Christmas at Windsor Castle for the second year in a row, abandoning the traditional journey to the Sandringham Royal Estate in East Anglia. At the castle, located in Berkshire, about 40 km from London, the 95-year-old queen made a Christmas televised address to the nation. On Saturday, the royal family attended a holiday service at St. George's Chapel in Windsor.
