Russia and the United States will hold talks on security and the situation around Ukraine on January 10

Representatives of Russia and the United States will hold talks on January 10 on the situation around Ukraine, security in Europe, as well as arms control, AFP reported, citing a spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

"The United States is looking forward to dialogue with Russia," he said. According to him, a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council may be held on January 12, and talks between representatives of the Russian Federation and the OSCE on January 13.

"When we sit down at the negotiating table, Russia can express its concerns, and we ours, including its activities," the source said. Bilateral talks on January 10th will take place in the framework of the strategic security dialogue. According to the representative of the National Security Council, the format of the talks will be focused primarily on arms control, and the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border will be discussed at the meeting. The situation around Ukraine will be discussed at the next meetings on January 12 and 13.

All agreements with Russia will take into account the interests of Ukraine, the American official added. "President [Biden's] approach to Ukraine is clear and consistent: to unite the Alliance around two fronts - restraint and diplomacy. We are united as a union on the consequences that Russia will face if it invades Ukraine. " The agency's interlocutor added that NATO members "are also united in their commitment to conduct principled diplomacy with Russia."

It is unknown at this time who will take part in the January 10 talks. The White House and the US State Department have not yet responded to a request for comment.
