Recreation of the USSR is impossible today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by TASS.

Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said the United States feared that Moscow might seek to re-establish the Soviet Union. "Ms. Nuland is well acquainted with Russian issues and in all nuances of the post-Soviet space. "I am convinced that Ms. Nuland, like us and other experts, understands very well that the restoration of the Soviet Union is impossible," Peskov said.

 "But Ms. Nuland also knows for sure that integration processes with different rates of development have long emerged and are maturing in the former Soviet Union. These are the Commonwealth of Independent States and more advanced integration organizations, such as the EAEU, and even more advanced union structures, such as the Union State of Russia and Belarus. But neither one, nor the other, nor the third is an attempt to reincarnate the Soviet Union and cannot be, "the Kremlin spokesman continued.

He added that in the territory of the former USSR, independent sovereign states have long been formed, strengthened and developed, which treat each other on the basis of mutual respect, trust and non-interference in the affairs of the other.
