The government of the Czech Republic will send 150 servicemen to help their Polish counterparts patrol the border with Belarus, national radio Cesky rozhlas reports. The troops will be in the neighboring country for about six months.
Thousands of asylum seekers and migrants have been trapped in no man's land between the countries, sparking a humanitarian crisis deliberately created by Minsk, according to Czech and European officials.
Czech troops will help protect the border, but will not engage directly with refugees or migrants, outgoing Prime Minister Andrej Babis suggests.
His successor, Petar Fiala, backed the proposal, which will be discussed by the relevant committees in both houses of parliament after approval by the cabinet.
