At least 208 people have died since Typhoon Rai hit the Philippines. This was reported by the newspaper Manila Bulletin, citing data from the country's police.
Earlier, data on 169 victims were presented. According to the publication, 239 people were injured, another 52 are missing.
The Hong Kong Meteorological Observatory said on December 16 that the 22nd typhoon of the season, called Paradise, had formed in the western Pacific. Authorities in the Philippine region of Eastern Visayas evacuated more than 82,000 people before the disaster. The people were accommodated in 274 evacuation centers in the provinces of South Leyte, Leyte, Samar, East Samar, North Samar and Biliran.
According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasts of Vietnam, the epicenter of the typhoon is moving to the province of Bindin.
