Albanians who set fire to Serbian flags have been released

Albanians who set fire to Serbian flags in the Albanian capital, Tirana, have been released, according to the Skopje-based online newspaper Factor.

Police detained eight people, two were remanded in custody, and the other six, aged 15 to 16, were released from Tirana and Durres. The eight men removed four Serbian flags from the masts and set them on fire.

The individuals will be charged with the crimes of "inciting hatred" and "humiliation of the republic and its symbols".

The incident took place on December 20th during a protest organized by former Albanian President Sali Berisha, who opposes the Open Balkans initiative. Earlier, Berisha told Serbian President Alexander Vucic not to come to Tirana, as the streets "will be crowded".
