Baghdad has announced the end of the international coalition's combat missions in Iraq

Iraqi authorities have officially announced the end of the US-led international anti-terrorist coalition's combat mission in Iraq and the withdrawal of the coalition's combat units from the country, Iraqi television channel Al Sumaria reported.

According to the channel, Iraqi National Security Adviser Kasem Araji has announced "the completion of the military tasks of the coalition forces in Iraq and the withdrawal of (their combat units) from the country." He said that "the last round of talks with the coalition on Thursday officially announced the end of the combat tasks of the international coalition forces and their withdrawal from Iraq".

According to Araji, "relations with the international coalition will continue in the field of training (military personnel) and consultative activities."

On January 5th this year, the Iraqi parliament passed a resolution calling for the complete withdrawal of all foreign troops from the country. On July 26, US President Joe Biden announced that the US military mission in Iraq would be completed by the end of the year, but that co-operation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism would continue.
