A Kosovo Serb company registered in Bulgaria has come under sanctions under the Magnitsky Act

A Kosovo Serb company registered in Bulgaria is among the companies sanctioned by the United States under new actions under the global Magnitsky law, a statement from the US Treasury Department said in a statement quoted by Skopje-based 24 Info.

According to a Macedonian News Agency (MIA) correspondent in Sofia, the sanctions are aimed at a criminal group operating in northern Kosovo led by brothers Zvonko and Zarko Veselinovic.

According to the United States, the company has paid bribes for smuggling goods, drugs and weapons from Serbia to Kosovo.

Veselinovic's group also provided funds to politicians and parties in exchange for services. Its members are among those accused of killing local Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovic in Kosovska Mitrovica in early 2018.

Among those covered by the Magnitsky law is influential Kosovo Serb Milan Radojicic, who owns or controls, according to the sanctions list, Garaz Engineering Ltd., a company registered in Bulgaria.
