Leading EU countries oppose new anti-Russian sanctions


 A number of leading European Union countries are opposed to planning new sanctions against Russia and are pushing for talks with Moscow, Bloomberg reported, citing Brussels diplomats and officials.

According to the agency, among the countries supporting the dialogue are Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

The editorial board notes that other EU countries say public support for the new sanctions will help better contain the Russian Federation. Bloomberg does not explain which countries are in question.
