Russian authorities check Netflix for LGBT propaganda, demand ban on "homoconveyor"

Russia's Interior Ministry is checking the Netflix streaming service for violations of the law banning LGBT propaganda in the country. Earlier, the Commissioner for Family Protection Olga Baranets complained to the ministry that there are LGBT series with the inscription "16+" on Netflix, Kommersant writes.
"Until the completion of the relevant inspections and reviews, we believe that the comments on the topic of the request are premature," said a comment from the press service of the Ministry of Interior.
Baranets pointed out the section of the Netflix website for materials from which a complaint was filed. It's called LGBTQ Movies. Among the series presented in it are "Elite", "Sexual Enlightenment", "What / If", "Young Monarchs" and others. According to her, the purpose of the complaint "is not just to fine the Western homoconveyor, but to veto its activities in our country."

In July 2020, Ms. Baranets complained to the Ministry of Interior and Roskomnadzor about the Russian TV series Chiki, which tells the story of sex workers from a Krasnodar village who decided to change their lives. According to her, the series also promotes the ideas of LGBT and feminism.
