The presidents of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine have called for new sanctions against Russia

Warsaw, Vilnius and Kiev issued a joint statement calling for tougher sanctions against Russia. The document on the results of the tripartite meeting on Thursday was adopted online by the presidents of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine Gitanas Nauseda, Andrzej Duda and Vladimir Zelenski, the press service of the Lithuanian leader reported, TASS reports.

It is proposed to strengthen sanctions on the basis of the "aggression against Ukraine" attributed to the Russian Federation. In addition, the presidents again called on the Russian Federation to "de-escalate by withdrawing troops from the Ukrainian border."

They also reiterated their concerns about the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, saying they would work together to oppose Russia, which uses energy as a means of geopolitical influence, and to oppose the monopolization of the European gas market.

The video conference of the presidents was scheduled for the 30th anniversary of the official recognition of Ukraine's independence from Vilnius and Warsaw.
