Western Balkan foreign ministers to discuss BiH in London

The foreign ministers of the six Western Balkan countries will meet in London on Monday to discuss the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). This is stated in a statement issued by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who will chair the event, reports TASS.

It notes that the talks will take place against the backdrop of how "tensions in the region have peaked". "The [UN] High Representative in BiH [Christian Schmidt] warned that the country faces the most dangerous existential threat in the post-war period and has a real prospect of further division and conflict. "Together with international partners, the United Kingdom is working to combat threats in order to stabilize the situation, to maintain the progress made in the last 26 years," the statement said.

The meeting in London will be attended by the foreign ministers of Albania, BiH, Kosovo, northern Macedonia, Serbia-Montenegro, as well as representatives of the United States and the EU. According to a statement from the British Ministry, the current situation in the Balkans was also discussed over the weekend by the heads of the foreign ministries of the G-7 countries in Liverpool.
