According to the United States, China plans to build another military base in Africa

U.S. intelligence suggests that China intends to build a naval base on the Atlantic coast of Africa, which will become the second military facility of the continent's Celestial Empire, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing government sources.

With the help of this base, Chinese ships will be able to replenish supplies in Equatorial Guinea, which is a cause for concern in the White House and the Pentagon. "We have made it clear to Equatorial Guinea that some potential steps in China's activities will cause national security concerns," a senior official in the US presidential administration was quoted as saying.

According to US government estimates, the PRC may set up a base in the city of Bata, where it already has a trading port. China currently has a military base in Djibouti.

In a November report on Beijing's military might, the Pentagon suggested that China intends to set up military bases and other facilities in a number of countries. According to the agency, "China probably sees a number of countries as potential locations for the Chinese People's Liberation Army, including Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, the Seychelles, Tanzania, Angola and Tajikistan."
