French presidential candidate Eric Zemour was attacked at his first election rally

French presidential candidate Eric Zemer was attacked during his first election rally in the Paris suburb of Villepinte, BFM TV reported.

Zemur, accompanied by security guards and journalists, was moving across the hall to the podium when a man suddenly ran out of the group of spectators and attacked him. He grabbed the candidate's head with his hands, trying to knock him to the ground. The attacker was immediately detained by the guards, who took him out of the hall. He was arrested for intentional violence.

Police sources told the TV channel that the attacker was known to the authorities in connection with various crimes. The reasons for his attack are unknown.

Earlier, police and gendarmerie detained 46 people in Villepinte for violating the security perimeter. During Zemur's rally in the hall, fights broke out between opponents and supporters of the candidate. During his speech, Zemur, who announced the creation of his own Reconquista movement, sharply criticized the authorities and the parliamentary opposition. If elected, he promised to halt migration flows to France and reduce immigration to zero.
