Malta became the first country in the EU to legalize cannabis


 Malta's parliamentarians voted on Tuesday to legalize the possession of cannabis for personal use, according to The Guardian.

"I am very pleased that Malta will be the first country to take comprehensive action," the publication quoted Maltese Minister Owen Bonici as saying.

Luxembourg also plans to legalize marijuana next year. And Germany is preparing to create a legal market for cannabis.
