Moldova has lifted the obligation for drivers to carry their driver's licenses

Drivers in Moldova are no longer required to carry a driver's license to drive a vehicle. As the press service of the parliament announced on Friday, the respective amendment to the law was approved for a final reading by the deputies, TACC reports.

"Police officers will be able to identify the driver's license with the help of an electronic database. However, drivers will need to have an identity document," the statement said.

The initiative to introduce such an innovation was earlier advocated by Interior Minister Anna Revenko, noting that such a measure could not be introduced immediately, as not all patrol inspectors still use digital devices to verify the identity of citizens.

All subsequent necessary acts for the implementation of this initiative will be approved by the government in the next six months.
