Pendarovski and Escobar discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the region


 Bilateral relations between Northern Macedonia and the United States and the situation in the region were the main topics in a conversation in Skopje between the president of our southwestern neighbor Stevo Pendarovski and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar, refers to information from the office of the head of state.

  A statement from Pendarovski's cabinet said the two sides were constantly promoting productive political dialogue. The President expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to develop at an even stronger pace. Pendarovski also stressed the importance of the country's support from the United States in achieving its strategic goals. 

  "Regarding the aspirations for membership in the European Union, President Pendarovski reaffirmed his expectations for the forthcoming start of accession talks, stressing that unblocking the integration process will have a positive impact on the overall stability and development of the region. In this context, President Pendarovski thanked the US administration and personally Assistant Secretary of State Escobar for their support of the need for regional progress towards the EU, "the text reads.

Apart from Pendarovski, Escobar will meet with other officials today, the US Embassy in Skopje announced yesterday.
