Putin and Vucic discussed military-technical co-operation and additional gas supplies

Serbian President Alexander Vucic has had telephone conversations with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. As the Serbian leader's press office said on Saturday, during the conversation, Vucic thanked Putin for supplying the Cornet anti-tank missile systems, and also raised the issue of supplying additional volumes of gas to Serbia. The conversation was initiated by the Serbian side, TACC reports.

"President Vucic thanked President Putin for the supply of Cornet's anti-tank missile systems, noting that these Russian missiles are the best in the world and will be a major boost for the Serbian military. President Vucic and President Putin discussed the energy situation in Europe and the world, continuing a conversation that began a month ago in Sochi. "President Putin has assured President Vucic that Russia will abide by the agreements and that Serbia will have sufficient gas volumes this winter. The interlocutors also discussed an agreement that would provide [Serbia] with additional gas supplies," the statement said.

Vucic and Putin have noted the continued growth of economic ties. The presidents emphasized that they expect an agreement on strategic economic co-operation to be signed soon and praised the agreement signed on Friday between Gazprom and Serbian petrochemical producer HIP Petrohemija.

The readiness of the parties for further close cooperation in the whole spectrum of relations was noted in the conversation, the press service notes.

Vucic thanked Putin for the New Year and Christmas greetings and wished Putin good health and success in 2022 for the benefit of the Russian state and the Russian people, as well as Russian-Serbian relations.
