Production of Turkish Bayraktar drones starts in Ukraine

Ukraine has started production of Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles, the head of the president's office Andriy Yermak was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian newspaper Glavred.

In an interview, he noted that the government is expanding co-operation with Turkey, which sent the first Bayraktar TB2 to Ukraine in July this year.

"Now their production has already started in Ukraine. When they say they are Turkish Bayraktars - yes, we took them from Turkey, but it is important to note that the engines for these drones are manufactured in our country," he explained Yermak.

According to him, Kiev has a "huge program of military assistance from the West." For example, Britain is involved in building the fleet.

"With this country, we are implementing a project for the development of our navy for 1.7 billion pounds. With France, the size of joint programs reaches 1.3 billion euros," said Yermak.

The head of the president's office also recalled the receipt of anti-tank missiles "Jevlin" and other military equipment from the United States.

"The US president has said he will provide all necessary military assistance so that Ukraine can repel any attack on its territory," he said.

Recall, on November 1, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Turkey Vasily Bodnar said that Ukraine plans to establish full-scale production of unmanned aerial vehicles "Bayraktar" TB2, which may begin in the near future.

In early December, Bloomberg, citing sources in the Turkish government and the leadership of arms manufacturer Baykar, said Ukraine would receive at least 24 drones. They will be transported in the country in the near future.
