The Pope compared migrant camps to concentration camps

Pope Francis compared migrant camps to Nazi camps and called his task to "open the eyes" of the world to the state of affairs so that society does not become accustomed to the tragedies of refugee deaths. The pope said this during a prayer with migrants at the Catholic Church of the Holy Cross in Cyprus, reports TACC.

"We are getting used to the human tragedy in the world. This is a terrible disease for which there is no cure. Others (migrants) are forced to return and end up in real camps where people are tortured, trafficked, enslaved. We are so sorry when we read about the camps of the last century - Nazi, Stalinist, but the same thing is happening now on the beaches nearby from (us), the quays of slavery, "Francis said.

"It is my responsibility to open your eyes. This is today's war and the suffering of brothers and sisters that we have no right to endure," he added.

Pope Francis condemned (enclosing) barbed wire, which is an "expression of hatred" for those who set out in search of bread, warmth, brotherhood.
