The team of US Vice President Kamala Harris has a turnover caused, among other things, by fears about her political prospects, writes the Internet portal Axios, citing sources.
According to the portal, some employees in the office do not want to be associated with Harris. They would prefer to work for incumbent President Joe Biden's campaign headquarters if he decides to run, or for another more promising Democratic candidate if one emerges. Some are looking for greater financial stability or want to settle their personal lives. As examples of the departure of the apparatchiks, Axios cited the head of the communications department of Vice President Ashley Etienne and the press secretary Simona Sanders.
However, other sources in the portal refute these theses, first of all the statements of doubts about Harris's prospects. They point out that the resumption of staff is quite natural in light of staff fatigue "due to the busy schedule in the first year of Harris' rule, as well as the campaign and the difficult process of transferring power from the previous administration."
If Harris's apparatus fails to deal with "disruption in its ranks", it could damage the prospects for electing and appointing women to senior positions in American politics, writes Axios. In the history of the United States, a woman has never been president.
