Russia is not preparing for any offensive operation on the border with Ukraine

Russia is not preparing for any offensive operation in Donbass and denies at all levels the possibility of a Russian-initiated military conflict with Ukraine. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Russia Konstantin Kosachov on Russia-24 TV, quoted by TASS.

"On the Russian side, without emotion, without any wandering around at all possible levels, starting with the presidential one, there is a consistent refutation of this scenario (military threat to Ukraine from Russia - TASS), in any case, the impossibility on the initiative of the Russian side. "We have no plans to attack Ukraine, no increased military activity near Ukraine's borders, and no preparations for any offensive operation," he said.

"It is clear that in the interest of ensuring our own security, our own defense capability, we have the right to take certain measures, as we have information that a provocation may be initiated, that such a military escalation may be initiated by Kiev, which at the same time, it will receive cover and full informational, and perhaps military, support from the West, "Kosachov added.

The Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council stressed that Russia's position on curbing a possible military conflict with Ukraine has not changed and is not subject to any political conjuncture.
