The United States is investigating export control measures against Russia in the event of an "invasion" in Ukraine

U.S. officials are considering "strict export controls" against Russia in the event of an alleged "invasion of Ukraine," Reuters reported, citing a White House source.

In particular, the possibility of restricting the import of smartphones, aircraft and auto parts is being studied. According to the agency, this package is in addition to economic sanctions and will be discussed at a meeting of senior US officials on December 21.

The aforementioned restrictions could block Russia's access to a wide range of technologies aimed at the mass consumer and industry.

A source from the administration also said that the potential measures would be "unprecedented" for Russia. He added that Washington is planning close consultations with key partners in Europe and Asia that could be affected by these restrictions.
