Albania arrests two people burning Serbian flags

Albanian law enforcement authorities have arrested two men who removed and burned Serbia's national flags in Tirana during the start of the Open Balkans summit, the Skopje-based newspaper Nova Makedonija reported.

According to the publication, the detainees were taken to one of the police stations in the Albanian capital. They are currently being questioned.

A mass protest against the implementation of the Open Balkans regional initiative took place in the Albanian capital on Monday. Hundreds of activists responded to a call by former opposition Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, who staged an unauthorized demonstration in front of the government building in Tirana. Due to the actions of the protesters, the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was forced to postpone the start of the meeting for the town of Elbasan, located 40 km southeast of the Albanian capital.
