Turkey has commented on the postponement of the elections in Libya

Ankara supports the idea of holding elections in Libya, considering the vote an important turning point in the transition process in the African country. This was stated in a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry in connection with the postponement of the date of the parliamentary and presidential elections in Libya, the Anatolian Agency reports.

The message emphasizes the importance of the electoral process in ensuring the unity and integrity of Libya. "Openness, fairness and the absence of interference in the electoral process, the results of which will inspire confidence in all parties, are important for Libya's integrity and unity. The powers of the newly elected security forces must extend to the entire territory of the country, "the statement said.

The foreign ministry said Turkey has a key role to play in maintaining a ceasefire and stability in Libya. Initially, Ankara advocated that the elections in Libya be held on a solid legal basis, formed with the consent of all institutions and in the light of the Libyan political agreement, the document said.

"In this situation, it is important to maintain stability on the ground, and the Libyans themselves must agree on all issues related to the conduct of elections in the legal framework and on the basis of consensus," the statement said.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that until the formation of the new Libyan government in this country, a vacuum of legitimacy and a system of government that primarily meets the interests of the fraternal Libyan people will not be tolerated.

"We expect a responsible approach and common sense from all sides in Libya. "Turkey, as a country with deep historical ties to the Libyan people, will continue to support friendly and fraternal Libya and contribute to the political process under the auspices of the United Nations," the ministry said in a statement.
