Australian authorities have humiliated themselves by taunting an athlete

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic backs Novak Djokovic following Australian court ruling, calling such treatment of witch-hunting an athlete, Serbian newspaper Telegraf quoted him as saying.

"If they had said immediately that unvaccinated people could not enter [Australia], he would not have come. So he did everything that was reported, and then events began on an unprecedented scale, something like a witch hunt, "the president said.

In a telephone conversation with Djokovic, Vucic noted that the Australian authorities had humiliated themselves by mocking the athlete and tennis player "who can return to his country with his head held high".

"Those who wanted to demonstrate some principles showed that they have no principles. "They made fun of the tennis player for 10 days to give him the decision they knew from day one," the president said.

Vucic emphasized that they want to use Djokovic's example to show how "the world order works and what they can do with everyone". The president noted that the Australian court "lied about the number of vaccinated in Serbia", underestimating the figure. "The number of vaccinated in Serbia is higher than in many EU countries, especially in neighboring countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and even Estonia," he said.
