French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Strasbourg on Wednesday to address the European Parliament. He plans to outline the priorities of France, which took over the rotating EU presidency in early January, reports TACC.
According to acquaintances, the president has decided not to repeat what he said at the big December press conference at the Elysee Palace on the eve of the French presidency. Then, in a three-hour speech, he described in detail the extensive French program for the next six months.
This time, according to sources at the Elysee Palace, the French leader will speak for about 20 minutes to highlight how France sees the further development of the European Union. After his introductory speech, speeches by 35-50 deputies are expected, and the president intends to answer their questions.
"But this will not be a statement by a candidate (within the presidential campaign), there is no such task. He will try to convince MEPs of the need to achieve results on as many tasks as possible, planned for the six-month French presidency of the Council of the EU, "a source from the presidential administration told reporters.
