The new Macedonian prime minister met with the US ambassador to Skopje


 The new Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met with the US Ambassador to Skopje Kate Mary Burns, informs the Macedonian edition of Radio Voice of America.

According to the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia (PCM), Ambassador Burns stressed that it is important for the United States to quickly resolve key issues that will allow the process of Macedonia's accession to the EU to continue.

 "To continue economic cooperation between the two countries, with a special focus on promoting projects and investments that will enable lasting and sustainable energy independence of  Macedonia," it was emphasized in part of talks at the first meeting between Kovachevski and Burns.

"The ambassador congratulated Kovachevski on his appointment as prime minister and stressed that he looks forward to continuing to work with the new government team," the US Embassy said in a statement.

 "In this regard, it is extremely important for the United States to unblock the country's European integration process and hold the first intergovernmental conference with Brussels and open the first chapters in the EU membership process," the government said in a statement. .

According to the government, Ambassador Burns stressed that for the United States, relations between the two countries as NATO's closest neighbors and allies are extremely important and that a speedy resolution of key issues will allow Macedonia's EU accession process to continue.
