The new Macedonian government has been elected

After a two-day debate that was not as sharp as in previous cases, parliament on Sunday night elected a new Macedonian government, led by Dimitar Kovachevski, which includes Alternative. 62 deputies voted for the new government, while 46 voted against. The Skopje newspaper Nezavisen writes.

Prior to the vote, Prime Minister-designate Kovachevski made a brief address to lawmakers, urging them to work with the opposition on key issues in the country.

"I sincerely believe that the opposition will be constructive in passing the laws," Kovachevski said.

He responded to criticisms of legitimacy against him and the new government: "Legitimacy is indisputable. "There will be elections, but in 2024," he said.

Kovachevski announced that resolving important issues related to the energy crisis will begin on Monday at the first meeting of the government. He announced that each minister and the government as a whole will have a clear plan for working with deadlines and indicators for monitoring its implementation.

The prime minister said he looked forward to meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov on Tuesday, and on Monday to meet with German Minister for Europe Anna Lirmann, who will arrive in Skopje.

"A new time is coming. Better times are coming ", concluded the Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski.

In the new government, the defense minister will be Slavjanka Petrovska, the foreign minister Bujar Osmani, the justice minister Nikola Tupanchevski, the interior minister Oliver Spasovski, and the deputy prime minister for European affairs Boyan Maricic.
