The DPRK's missile launch on January 14 was carried out by the forces of the railway missile regiment, the Japanese agency Kyodo reports, citing the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
According to the agency, the purpose of the missile exercises was to confirm combat readiness and strengthen the offensive potential of the regiment. Two tactically guided missiles were fired and hit a target in the Sea of Japan.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Japan, the DPRK authorities on Friday fired at least one ballistic missile in the western part of the country in the eastern direction. The height of its flight at the highest point was about 50 km, as the rocket flew about 400 km and fell outside the exclusive economic zone of Japan. This is Pyongyang's third rocket launch this year.
