The law banning Russian ships from entering the internal waters of Ukraine entered into force on January 1, 2022. The relevant document, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 3, 2020, was published on the website of Parliament, RIA Novosti reported.
According to his text, ships flying the flag of an "aggressor state" (as Russia is called in Ukraine) can no longer carry passengers and cargo between river ports. A similar measure has been introduced with regard to freight transport in the country's inland waters.
In addition, the document introduces a ban on registration in the State Register of Shipping of Ukraine of vessels owned by Russian citizens.
Inland waterways in Ukraine include rivers such as the Dniester, Danube, Dnieper and others.
