A Bulgarian-Macedonian intergovernmental conference will be held in Sofia on January 25th

The visit of Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, which was confirmed on January 18th and 19th, will not be just a formality, but should be a turning point in the dispute over the Macedonian issue. According to unofficial information, this will be the main preparation for the joint meeting of the governments of the two countries, which will be held on January 25 in Sofia and will be chaired by the two prime ministers Petkov and Dimitar Kovachevski, writes the Skopje newspaper Nezavisen.

This means that one of Skopje's main urges to involve political rather than caretaker governments in the negotiations and to establish an institutional framework to restore trust between the peoples of the two countries is being realized, so that the dispute moves away from historical and similar issues. , which poison relations, and will include others that have a real impact on co-operation between Bulgaria and Macedonia, the newspaper said.

According to reports, four working groups will be formed at the opening of the intergovernmental session - the first on economy, trade and innovation; the second for infrastructure and connectivity; the third for European integration and green policies and the fourth for culture and education. At the same time, a meeting of the co-chairs of the Historical Commission has been arranged. They must agree on activities and projects for the next six months and report to the joint meeting of governments on 25 January.
