Hooligans burned more than 870 cars on New Year's Eve in France. This was announced on Saturday by the Minister of Interior of the country Gerald Darmanen, quoted by TACC.
"The number of burned vehicles is decreasing compared to previous years. The number of attacks on police officers is also decreasing," the minister said. He recalled that in 2019 on New Year's Eve hooligans burned more than 1,300 cars.
Darmanen said more than 440 people were detained in France during the night. About 380 of them have been arrested. The Minister thanked the police and gendarmerie officers who patrolled the city streets on New Year's Eve.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, more than 95,000 police and gendarmerie officers have ensured the safety of French residents and tourists on New Year's Eve.
