The European Union is working very closely with the United States on the dialogue with Russia on security in Europe. This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on Thursday before the start of the informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Brest, France, TACC reports.
"There is a lot of talk that Europe is not participating in (the security architecture dialogue with the Russian Federation and the United States) and is not present at the negotiating table, but these days we are maintaining very close coordination with the United States. "I spoke on the phone with (US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken) several times and fellow ministers also contacted him," Borel said.
He added that the EU is convinced that no solution will be discussed and adopted without close co-operation with Europe and without its participation.
An informal meeting of EU defense ministers is being held in Brest, western France, on January 13-14.
