The countries of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) held an extraordinary meeting, during which they elected a new Secretary General. From August 1 this year for a period of three years the post will be handed over to the representative of Kuwait Haytam Al Gais, the Russian newspaper "Moskovsky Komsomolets" reports.
Al Geis has represented his country in OPEC since 2017 and currently holds the position of Managing Director of Marketing at the state-owned company Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
