Russia's Foreign Ministry does not rule out new US sanctions against Nord Stream 2

The process of certification of Nord Stream 2 may be delayed until the summer, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation does not rule out the possibility of the United States imposing new sanctions on the pipeline during this period. This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Alexander Pankin, the newspaper "Kommersant" notes.

"The regulations of the procedure are such that they allow for a delay (in the certification process), namely to review the first, second conditional instance, stretching it for many months," Pankin told the media.

He believes that during the certification of the gas pipeline, "intrigue can be at any step". "Then there may be an American hammer - why not imagine that the Americans will tell the Germans not to buy a single gram of Russian gas through Nord Stream 2?" The pipeline may or may not be certified. They can apply anything, "the diplomat added.
