Moscow regrets that the United States continues to insist on unilateral concessions from Russia and prefers speculation instead of constructiveness, and this cannot be the basis for a productive discussion on security guarantees, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.
The diplomat recalled that during the talks he would insist on NATO's refusal to expand to the east and deploy strike weapons near Russia's borders.
"All this is in the legal norm. Unfortunately, we hear all kinds of speculations that Russia should do this, should do something else, take this step, that step. We have repeatedly reacted to this wording of the question, and "At all levels, there can be no reason not only for an agreement, but even for a productive discussion," he said.
Ryabkov admitted that in the course of the discussions Moscow would face the reluctance of its Western counterparts to "really accept" its demands, namely the legal guarantees for non-enlargement of NATO, as well as "the elimination of everything created by the Alliance driven by anti-Russian phobias. and any misconceptions about the nature of Russian policy since 1997. "
"But we, of course, under pressure and in a regime of threats, which are constantly formulated against us by Western participants in the upcoming contacts, will not make any concessions," said the deputy minister.
According to him, no other tactics in the negotiations are in the interests of his country's security.
