Ursula von der Leyen called for ensuring the rights and safety of citizens in Kazakhstan

 


 European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed deep concern over the situation in Kazakhstan and called for ensuring that citizens' rights and safety are respected. She said this at a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in connection with the beginning of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will last until June 30, 2022, reports TACC.

"I am following the situation in Kazakhstan with great concern. The rights and security of citizens must be guaranteed as a matter of priority, and I call for an end to violence and restraint," von der Layen said. "The EU stands ready to provide the necessary assistance to stabilize the situation."

 The President of the European Commission did not answer the questions of the journalists how he assesses the position of the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Kazakhstan
