Vucic believes that with the departure of Merkel, Germany has ceased to be a source of stability

Germany has ceased to be a source of stability and a pillar of the European People's Party (EPP) with the resignation of Angela Merkel as chancellor. This was stated in an interview with the Serbian newspaper Vecernje Novosti by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

"The European People's Party to which I belong has been literally destroyed, which I think is bad for Europe. The most western leader of the EPP of those currently in power is (Slovenian Prime Minister) Janez Jansa. "Sebastian Kurz has been removed, with the departure of Angela Merkel Germany as a stronghold of EPP supporters, but also as a source of stability, no longer so. In Spain, France, Italy, there are some other political forces in power everywhere," Vucic said.

"The conservative, rational part is no longer dominant in Europe as it was six or seven years ago. And all the false left and liberal blocs - because they are all but liberal - can say and do whatever they want, everything is wrapped up in something good and kind, even if these are the worst decisions <...> and most often the harshest. "Always the most aggressive and extremist movements are those who often talk about civil rights, but do not tolerate different opinions," said the President of Serbia.

He noted that new political forces in Europe have sharply increased pressure on Belgrade. "The situation in the region and external pressure. That is the only thing that torments me," Vucic said. According to the head of state, the source of such pressure is "some circles in Europe that have been in opposition for a long time and have now come to power."

The Serbian president stressed that despite pressure, he will not recognize Kosovo's independence. "No. "Short and clear," he said.
