We will increase the pressure on the United States

Chinese authorities intend to increase pressure on the United States in response to Washington's actions that harm the country's national interests. This was announced on Tuesday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, commenting on the dissatisfaction of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken with the sanctions on Beijing, TASS reports.

"The United States is interfering in the internal affairs of the PRC and dealing a serious blow to the interests of our country," he said at a briefing. "We will continue to take all necessary retaliatory measures to protect national sovereignty."

According to Wang Wenbin, over the past few years, the United States, under plausible pretexts and democratic slogans, has made baseless accusations against a number of Chinese officials who have come under unilateral sanctions from Washington. "China has legally retaliated. "This step is aimed at protecting the sovereignty, security and interests of the development of the PRC," he explained.

Blinken said Monday that sanctions imposed by China on four members of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom should be considered a "violation of universal human rights." According to him, Washington is in solidarity with the employees of the mentioned state structure, who were affected by the relevant measures of the PRC.

The escalation of Beijing's relations with Western countries is caused by the issue of the rights of national minorities in China. Western countries have accused China of setting up a network of concentration camps where up to 1 million Uighurs could be forcibly detained and using the labor of people there. Beijing has repeatedly denied information about the existence of a network of correctional facilities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Last spring, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada and the United States imposed sanctions on Chinese officials, accusing them of complicity in violating Uighur rights, prompting Chinese authorities to retaliate.
