Britain is suing META for more than $ 3 billion for misusing consumer data

In the UK, a $ 3.2 billion class action lawsuit has been filed against Facebook's parent company, META, according to The Hill.

Lisa Lovdale Gormsen, senior adviser to the UK's Financial Conduct Monitoring Group (FCA), is suing Meta on behalf of people who used Facebook in the UK between 2015 and 2019 that users were forced to give out personal data in order to enter the platform, as a result of which the company has earned billions.

"In the 17 years since its inception, Facebook has become the only social network in the UK where you can be sure to connect with friends and family in one place," said Lovdal Gormsen. “There was a dark side to Facebook, though; he abused his market dominance to impose unfair conditions on ordinary Britons, who gave him the authority to exploit their personal data, ”added Lovdal Gormsen.

According to her, the collection of data from Facebook has allowed him to create extensive databases for users.

Facebook said in a statement that users "have real control over what information they share on Meta platforms and with whom."

The lawsuit comes after a judge rejected a request by Facebook to dismiss a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit against the company in the United States this week.
