Kazakhstan has announced a stabilization of the situation in all regions of the country

The situation in all regions of Kazakhstan, where riots broke out, is stabilizing. This is stated in the statement of the Acting Minister of Interior of the Republic Erlan Turgumbayev, which was distributed on Sunday by the press service of the Ministry of Interior of the country and quoted by TACC.

"Currently, the anti-terrorist operation continues to restore law and order in the country. Today the situation is stabilized in all regions of the country. Police have liberated all previously occupied akimat buildings (local administrations). "Utilities and life support systems are being restored," he said.

According to him, before that the situation was especially difficult in Almaty, where on January 5, an organized crowd of about 20,000 people tried to take over the building of the local administration. Due to their significant numerical advantage, they managed to break through several lines of defense and penetrate the building.

"At the same time, protesters everywhere demonstrated professional skills. Discipline and order are noticeable in their actions. Surveillance cameras were turned off at their places of residence and before the attack, roads were barricaded and observers were stationed around the perimeter. "They used radio stations to coordinate their actions," the interior minister said.

He noted that about 800 people had taken over Almaty International Airport. As a result, 60 departing and 56 arriving flights were canceled. All boutiques, shops and ticket offices in the airport building were looted.
