Restrictions on Russian and NATO missile weapons should not be discussed publicly

Specific options for limiting the deployment of Russian and NATO missile systems should not be openly discussed, as this will reduce the scope for negotiations. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference in Brussels, quoted by TACC.

"NATO is ready to discuss missile restrictions with Russia, but the specific thresholds of the restrictions should not be discussed publicly, as this will reduce the scope for negotiations," he said.

Stoltenberg stressed that the Alliance is ready to discuss not only restrictions, but also a complete abandonment of non-strategic missiles. At the same time, he reiterated NATO's position that the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium-Range and Short-Range Missiles (DRSMO), which ceased to exist on August 2, 2019 after the unilateral withdrawal of the United States, was terminated due to its violations by country of Russia.
