The United States wants to "let off steam" in talks with Russia

The United States wants to "let off steam" from Moscow's security talks, but at the same time is seeking to bring NATO's military infrastructure closer to Russia's borders, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with Russia's RTVI.

"The Americans want to start a dialogue with us on some fragments of the security situation and thus, roughly speaking, to let off steam from the Russian position, to ease the pressure, to ease the tension. And at the same time, hiding behind this dialogue to continue the same process of geopolitical, military development in more and more territories, approaching ... ... to Moscow, "said the diplomat.

"Russia is now NATO's main enemy only because it strives firmly and consistently to defend its own interests," he said.
